United Way Day of Action to Focus on Educational Achievement





Enjoy Free, Fun, Family-Friendly Activities June 20

As part of its year-long Centennial Celebration, United Way of Greater Cincinnati (UWGC) will hold its first summer event, United Way Day of Action, June 20 on the Purple People Bridge, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The day is a fun, free and educational event for parents and children to help bridge the summer learning gap, and will be the biggest Day of Action in UWGC’s history!  Featured programs will include:

  • Interactive puppet show
  • Mural painting
  • Hip-hop dancing
  • Celebrity children’s book authors reading and book signing, including Sarah Jones, author of Lloyd Llama and Black & White Nighty Night at 11 a.m., and Kristen Simmons, discussing an signing The Glass Arrow at 1 p.m.
  • Science experiments
  • Sing-a-longs
  • Book fair
  • Story time
  • Book swap - please bring your gently used children’s book and swap it for a different one
  • All day, with prize drawings, special programs and enough cake for hundreds of people in celebration of our 100th birthday.

Participants will include: Adopt a Book, All Stars Read On, Art on the Streets, Bi-Okoto Cultural Institute, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Cincinnati, Duke Energy Children’s Museum, Eastside Players Community Theater, Elementz, Growing Sound, Joseph-Beth Booksellers, Madcap Puppets, The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, Remke Markets, Inc., TapSnap, United Way of Greater Cincinnati, WCET/PBS, WordPlay Cincy, YMCA of Greater Cincinnati, and The Yoga Bar

This Centennial year is an opportunity for our entire community to come together for the good of all.
