TEDxCincinnati Gearing Up to "Accelerate" Change in Greater Cincinnati!
In the spirit of Ideas Worth Spreading, TEDxCincinnati brings people together to share a TED-like experience. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized, where the x = independently organized TED events. A TEDxCincinnati Main Stage event features TED talk videos, live speakers and performers to spark deep discussion and connection. We are building a TEDxCincinnati community, not just an event. The TEDxCincinnati Mission: Live Consciously. Be Authentic. Empower Others.
Organizers of TEDxCincinnati announced yesterday that tickets for their 6th annual Main Stage event went on sale Monday, May 4, 2015. Tickets for the event titled, "Accelerate," are available online at TedxCincinnati.com. The event will take place from 4:00 – 9:30 pm (registration is from 3:00 pm – 3:45 pm) at the Cincinnati Masonic Center, 317 East 5th street Cincinnati, OH 45202. Speakers and performers will begin promptly at 4:00pm, and are excited to engage and expand the minds of guests through discussion and exploration of: Technology, Education, Health Innovations, Wellness, Arts, Humanities, Social Entrepreneurship, Social Change, Social Justice and soul-moving performances.
United Way of Greater Cincinnati, the presenting sponsor of the event as part of its Centennial year celebration, is looking forward to the next 100 years of its work and the impact it has on peoples' lives. “The ‘Accelerate’ theme for the event complements the work of United Way as we also explore ways to accelerate achieving the common good for all in our community in education, income and health through the Bold Goals for Our Region. We are pleased to be a presenting sponsor and to share innovative ideas with new audiences,” states John Hayden, United Way of Greater Cincinnati Centennial Year co-chair.
This year, TEDxCincinnati is expanding their reach to include high school students who are leaders, thinkers and doers. "Accelerate" will mark the inaugural year that TEDxCincinnat Youth will assist in the event's production.
"This year we have doubled the speakers, have world leading experts in forward thinking fields and expanded Innovation Alley. We feel incredibly inspired to be part of an amazing community and are thrilled that our TEDxCincinnati community continues to grow and is now over 3000," added TEDxCincinnati Director/Organizer Jami Edelheit. Continue to check the TEDxCincinnati website for updates and additional information about this event. The line-up of TEDxCincinnati speakers and performers will be announced in the weeks leading up to the event on the TEDxCincinnati website and through social media.
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a conference in California 26 years ago, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with many initiatives.
At a TED conference, the world’s leading thinkers and doers are asked to give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes or less. TED speakers have included Roger Ebert, Sheryl Sandberg, Bill Gates, Elizabeth Gilbert, Benoit Mandelbrot, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Brian Greene, Isabel Allende and former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Three major TED events are held each year: The TED Conference takes place every spring in Vancouver, Canada, simultaneous with TEDActive, in Whistler, British Columbia; and the TEDGlobal Conference takes place each summer in Edinburgh, Scotland.
On TED.com, talks from TED conferences are shared with the world for free as TED Talks videos. A new TED Talk is posted every weekday. Through the Open Translation Project, TED Talks are subtitled by volunteers worldwide into more than 90 languages. Through our distribution networks, TED Talks are shared on TV, radio, Netflix and many websites.
The annual TED Prize grants $1 million to an exceptional individual with a wish to change the world. The TED Fellows program helps world-changing innovators from around the globe to become part of the TED community and, with its help, amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities. TED-Ed creates short video lessons by pairing master teachers with animators, for use in classroom instruction or independent learning.
