Individual care plans promoting confidence, calm, self-esteem and self-worth are at the core of the unique Heartfelt Connections – a Memory Care Program for residents of the Memory Way Neighborhood at Magnolia Springs, a new not-for-profit Life Care Services managed community in Loveland.

The Heartfelt Connections program focuses on capturing individuals’ life stories to determine their distinctive 24-hour routines. As a result, knowing residents’ biographies helps Magnolia Springs’ staff empathize with residents diagnosed with dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease, developing a sense of connection, which is the foundation of healthy, caring relationships as well as a proven dementia care tool.

“We approach things a little differently,” says Scott Gibson, executive director at Magnolia Springs Loveland. “We are unique in that all of our department heads are Certified Dementia Practitioners, allowing us to lead the pack in dementia care in our industry. It sets us apart from our competitors. Certification is provided through Memory Way Director Holly Henderson, one of but a few CDP instructors in Cincinnati.”

Gibson expects his entire staff in both the 81-bed assisted living community and the 54-bed memory care neighborhood to be leaders when it comes to providing top quality care to all Magnolia Springs residents.

“Nurses, nurses’ aides, housekeepers, cooks – we have the same conversation with everyone,” he says. “We all have the power to make a positive difference in people’s lives.”
