Healthcare workers ready to advance their careers to the next level have a new local option at Union Institute & University in Cincinnati. The online, one-year Master’s in Healthcare Leadership (MS-HCL) program in Cincinnati is geared toward students who have completed an undergraduate degree and and are looking to advance within the healthcare field.
Jennifer Ossege, Psy.D, Director of the Master’s in Healthcare Leadership program, says the new course provides a convenient, enriching option for people who are ready to become healthcare leaders. She says this program, like all Union programs, weaves the school’s focus on social justice and diversity into the coursework.
Students in the MS-HCL program have the opportunity to learn alongside an experienced mentor by participating in Union’s cohort-based learning model. “This arrangement allows students to customize their experience and development as a professional,” Ossege says. “It adds a very practical, hands-on approach to their education.”
Ossege was a great choice to head this program. She has a background with Union, teaching with all levels of students since 2010, and holds both a Master of Organizational Leadership and a Doctor of Psychology degree. The MS-HCL program is an opportunity for Ossege to blend her teaching experience in a leadership program with her professional background in healthcare.
Ossege says that since students complete the program online around their work schedules, “they are able to immediately begin to apply their new knowledge to their careers and bring their career experiences into their interactions with fellow students and faculty.”
