Compassionate Healthcare

Terri Fenno was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer 16 years ago during the Christmas holiday. With two children, ages 3 and 4, and a husband who worked in New Jersey, it was a hard time for the whole family.

Facing a double mastectomy, chemotherapy and reconstructive surgery – combined with children and an absentee husband – Terri sought help from an agency that provided in-home health aides to assist her during those difficult times. Those few hours a day helped to improve her quality of life while maintaining house and home.

“Post recovery, Terri realized the importance of giving back to the community in this way,” says her husband, Tony Fenno. “She started her own in-home care company soon after this experience and we’ve never looked back.”

These days, Right at Home connects people across the local community with in-home care providers who are carefully selected by the Fennos. “The right caregiver has the combined traits of being caring, hardworking and adaptable to their client/patient needs,” Tony says.

In return, he says his full-time employees receive benefits not typically offered by similar agencies, including paid vacation, a 401k, health insurance and opportunity for advancement.

“Our philosophy is that you have to support the caregivers, and in doing so, you support the client and improve their care,” he says. “If you don’t do the first, you won’t get the second.”

To ensure quality of service, Right at Home makes unannounced supervisory visits – often more than 40 in a single week. “By doing so, we get client and caregiver feedback while face-to-face and in the care setting. And we don’t think this is even enough,” Tony says. “Every year, our client-patients expect more from home healthcare services, and rightly so. We can and will do more to meet the needs and expectations of our clients.”

Aging in place is the goal for many Right at Home clients, but Tony says the agency provides care for people in younger populations as well, including military veterans and people with chronic and acute health concerns that make home care a more comfortable option.

Right at Home’s services go beyond medical procedures and treatments to include health reminders, respite care, non-medical care, Alzheimer’s and dementia care, personal care and homemaking assistance, hygiene, wellness and more.

While the company is always expanding and changing in order to meet the needs of today’s patients, Tony says Right at Home’s philosophy remains firm: “Our main goal is always to improve the quality of life for each patient we visit.”
